Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into fame in 1994, after she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing But an Number. The album was Gold in the year she turned fifteen years old. The collaboration that influenced R. Kelly's musical style, brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she collaborated alongside Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which included the top-rated hit song If Your Girl Could Only Know. Aaliyah became a household name for her work as an R&B performer with the launch of her sophomore album One in a Million. In 2000, she appeared in the romantic action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial artists Jet-Li. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her at an awards show and suggested her this part. In 2002 she was in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The Matrix Sequels saw her play Zee and appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. The year 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003 she was nominated for four Grammy Awards. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. Though she initially had tiny film and television parts, her acting career began to gain momentum around the turn of the century. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She has appeared in numerous commercials for Volvo's international automobile producer. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
